Your First Shpate

February 9, 2016 | Rabbi Shlomo Einorn

Hi! Today is the day of our Shpate Launch. We are stoked!

The response has been overwhelming. Shneur from Manhattan emailed me yesterday saying "Did you know there's a place called shpate in Albania?"

I didn't know that! Anybody up for a Shpate mission to Europe next year?

Our first Daily Shpate Torah:

Last night i had the privilege of hearing Torah from Rav Pinchas Friedman, the Rosh Kollel of Chasidei Belz. I was shocked to find him so humble and laid back. Pretty cool for a walking encyclopedia.

He said that life is all about finding balance. We are a combination of elements: Earth, Wind, Fire, and Water (Random note, Maurice White passed away last week). We have different parts of our personality waging war at all times. True shleimus (perfection) is when we learn how to use the different parts of our persona to achieve harmony.

This idea ties in well with Rabbi Riskin's (Chief Rabbi of Efrat) famous idea of why we mention the 4 sons at the Seder - because they are four parts of our personality. We are called upon by Hashem to come to Him with all of who we are. Rav Pinchas Friedman would say that we are called upon to use each part of our personality to balance out the whole.

Have a shpate filled day!
